I also purchased an Ames Bench lathe a while back. It too is the 5/8" version 2AM. Hardrigde sells custom made collets for I believe $340 each! If you need collets to hold small items; I have turned down couple 3C collets to the .629" diameter and recut the correct threads (24tpi) and key slot.

Ames mill (new to me) I recently picked up an Ames mill. Came with the countershaft and motor unit. No arbor so I will have to turn one on the lathe. Needs some love but not a big deal as I had been looking for a small horizontal in my price range. Plus i got to see some other neat old and new tools and talk to a really cool guy in the process.
