Other than the dividing head, tailstock etc. that one would normally use on a horizonteal mill, you will need a right angle drive, arbor and arbor support, and a longer drawbar. Basically turning your vertical into a horizontal. If you do not have these items they are quite costly.

Advice for using a Boring Head on a VMC

The machine has a 40 taper, the boring head is a 3-in head with a 3/4" boring bar tool holder. Assuming the material is 6061 aluminum and the diameter to be bored out is 2". On the lathe, I would use 400sfm with a 0.006" fpr. I would use a finishing depth of cut of 0.02" (diameter) with a 0.016" corner radius.

I would go with a 1 3/8 center cut n mill. Grind or turn the shank to fit your collet. Make sure the run out is minimal so not to cut oversize. If your head and quill bearings are really bad. Use a 34mm n mill to depth, blue the hole and use your boring bar to get the hole tighter and just scratch the bluing at the bottom.
